Bownd was born from a reunion — a quiet act of belief.

We — Boey and Dula, two Chinese women living abroad —have drifted between art and reality,meeting, parting, and finding each other again.
Through a single qipao, we rediscovered our connection to the world.

The qipao amazed us — it embraces both the curve and the truth.It does not flatter; it understands.We chose it as a beginning,to explore a freer relationship between women, their bodies, time, and identity.

The name Bownd comes from our initials — Boey and Dula —
and echoes the word bond, meaning connection.
It connects us, and also bridges tradition and modernity,
the East and the West, craft and life, ideals and reality.
